OK, so to get to the point of this blog, I wanted to share with you that some of our fellow classmates have formed a reunion committee. The planning for the 50th reunion started last year with a meeting here and there, but now is taking place more often. It has been a very daunting task for the committee. Those on the committee have decided to try a weekend type reunion. Not everyone may be able to make all of the events. However, by making more opportunities available to get together, maybe at some point each of us will be able to make an appearance at one or more of the planned functions.
The committee felt that this being the 50th reunion, it should be treated 'special' compared to the past reunions that were held. As you go through the list of planned events, it is the hope of the committee that you will be able to attend at least one, or maybe all of the activities. Because this is the first posting, we only have a few confirmed events, but more will be coming. This is why you will need to check back every now and then to see if any additional events have been added to the blog.
As most, or maybe all of you know, the high school under went a reconstruction a few years ago and the tree that we planted several years ago was uprooted and a new tree planted. So, on Saturday, we will be placing the new marker at the site of the tree in remembrance of the twenty fellow classmates that have passed away. After the plaque has been installed, we will have another activity that has not yet been finalized. So, I will need to add that on a future page of this blog.
On Saturday evening at the White Rose Conference Center of York, formerly the Holiday Inn of York Hotel and Conference Center, the committee has planned a meet and greet social hour beginning at 5:30 p.m. with dinner to follow. A cash bar will be available for the meet and greet. Dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m. followed by a short break and then an even shorter business meeting. Afterwards, there will be music, dancing, conversations and maybe even a special surprise. There will also be door prizes and a 50/50 drawing, so bring lots of cash. Lodging rooms have also been set aside at the hotel for our group at a rate of $89.00 per night plus tax.
The cost per person for the dinner, which will also include the bartender service, (price of drinks are paid by the customer), hors d'oeuvres, the dinner, a take home gift, door prizes, the tree plaque and gratuities will be $75.00 per person. If anyone wishes to make their payment in two installments, Connie will set up a payment plan in your name.
OK, that's about it for now, but please keep checking back from time to time because I am sure there will be changes and additions.
